What to expect when you hold your ceremony at ROM?

Having assisted (a few times being the witness) in the ceremony of a few couples whom held their wedding at ROM itself, we can sum up by saying that this options is the most fuss free of them all. After doing all the initial application for registering your marriage, all you need to do is wait for the big day to arrive whereby you and your spouse have to make a trip down to ROM.

Checklist of item to bring:

For verification and statutory declaration:

• Summary of Notice of marriage (in case you have misplaced or have not printed yours out your can retrieve it)
• The couples Identity Card/Passport (and your parents in the event you are below 21 years of age)

For the Registry Ceremony:

• Your marriage certificate (which you would get after the verification and statutory declaration),
• The witness identity card
• Engagement ring, if any.

The engagement ceremony:

The ceremony at rom is a simple basic no frill ceremony held in one of the rooms which you enter when your number is called upon (booking of room is made beforehand during the online application). Do note that flash photography is not allowed within the room.

When you enter the room, there would be a table with the solemnizer seated behind. You can pass your identity cards, the witness identity cards and the marriage certificate to her/him. From there a quick verification is done to ensure the respective personal are whom they claim to be.

After which you will be invited to say your wedding vows, exchanging of rings and kissing the bride. Once done, the marriage certificate is signed by the couple, the witness and the solemnizer. From there you can take a quick photo before being ushered out of the room for the next couple to do their vows.

Photography opportunity

Upon exiting the room you will find a nice hall way for you to do some photo shoot with your friends and family. Do note thou that the next couple will be exiting in a few moments time so do keep this photo take short. Should you need to take more photos, you can proceed to the garden beside the exit. Walking past the garden, you will find a ruin like location with a large gate and a field beyond which is also a very nice location for photography. Once the photography is done, you can call it a day or maybe have a nice lunch/brunch with your friends and family.
